My name is Scott Williams, I am the father of Tyler and Leila Williams. I’m currently involved in a motion for modification in Anne Arundel County, Maryland trying to gain access to my younger two children. I filed this motion in August of 2018. Since then, the other party has used every available legal maneuver to postpone and extend this case into its 4th year.

Due to the length of the case being so long, I’m now being told unless the judge feels otherwise, I will not win my case because it will be too much of a negative impact to them if I’m reintroduced, since the other party will not support any reunification anyway. If this was a new case and not an existing one, I would have been afforded the right to a speedy trial and have a different outcome.

No other parent should be denied justice by using a legal loophole in the system. This loophole needs to be closed.

A little more about me… I’m a 43 year old Father of 3 you see in the picture. Alex is 22, Tyler is 11, and Leila is 10. I have a 25 year background in Information Technology and have worked for a significant portion of the Federal Government as a contractor from the White House and Senate to NASA and the Postal Service. I’ve recently become a business owner in the medical industry and have retired to focus purely on non-profit work and my family, including the newest addition, my grandson Charlie. I’m a tax paying citizen with no criminal record and have no unpaid child support. I haven’t even had a speeding ticket in almost 20 years (how could I driving a Prius forever)

For the last 9 years I’ve appeared in court 37 times and spent over $300,000 on lawyer fees defending my rights as a father filing contempt after contempt until finally filing a motion to modify custody to increase the amount of time I was getting, as the other party was essentially denying any access. Running out of $$, I was forced to sign over custody temporarily until I could afford another motion and return back to fight for custody (worst mistake I ever made, thanks Charlotte Weinstein ESQ).

After saving up $100k in 6 months, I filed an emergency motion for custody that was denied, but turned into another typical motion for modification. This was in August of 2018. We are still in the same motion with a trial scheduled for November 2021. It only takes one party with a lot of money to make it really hard on the other party, no matter how much money they have.
